ACROSS is an Interdenominational Christian and Humanitarian Organization serving South Sudan since 1972 with a mission of ‘’Transforming lives and communities in South Sudan and beyond.’’ ACROSS is looking forward to recruit a qualified South Sudanese to fill the position of Teacher.

General Description of the Role:

Provide leadership, coordination and management support in project planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and reporting for the Education Cannot Wait, First Emergency Response (ECW-FER) Project in Gorom Refugee settlement, Urban Juba and provide implementation monitoring to Yei-Lasu ECW-FER project implemented by MASS.

Key Duties         

  1. Daily Preparation of lesson plans.
  2. Teaching pupils as planned
  3. Undertaking the weekly routine school duties
  4. Marking pupils attendance in the class registers daily
  5. Compiling weekly activity reports
  6. Guiding pupils on sanitation & personal hygiene
  7. Continuously assessing the pupils performance
  8. Provide guidance and counseling to pupils when need arises
  9. Keeping daily,monthly,termly & annual record of work
  10. Keeping pupils’ progress record throughout the year
  11. Guiding pupils during co-curricular activities (games/sports including Music, Dance & Drama)
  12. Providing remedial teaching to the slow learners
  13. Checking pupils’ discipline
  14. Prepare home learning materials and follow up pupils through phone communications.
  15. Support control measures for the use of project resources/assets
  16. Uphold and adhere to ACROSS policies and procedure specially child protection policy.
  17. Playing other extra roles delegated upon by the School Administration and other relevant authorities.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree from a recognized Teachers Training Institute or College.
  • 2-3 Years of Teaching experience in Primary and Nursery Education (ECD). Experience working with UNICEF funded project especially Education in Emergencies (EiE) is an added advantage.
  • Good Communications Skills, in both English and Arabic.
  • Possession of Counselling knowledge and skills is an added advantage.
  • Flexible and have ability to cope with stressful situations
  • Demonstrate Integrity, Excellence and Stewardship
  • Knowledges of local community languages is an added advantage
  • Actively promoting PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standard within and among beneficiaries served by ACROSS
  • Committed Born Again Christian with heart to serve the disadvantaged.
  • Ability to lead devotions and prayers
